Eurovia Completes Footpath Improvements In Hertfordshire
Since September last year, Eurovia Contracting (South), working together with Hertfordshire County Council and supply chain partner Ashmac, has successfully completed 86 individual footpath improvement works across the whole of Hertfordshire.
Dave Bojko, Eurovia Operations Manager, said: “The majority of work consisted of removing the existing paving flag surface, which was very uneven, and replacing with a new asphalt surface. As part of this scheme, we were able to promote the use of recycled materials for the sub-base. Material excavated from these sites was segregated and, where possible, re-used on these schemes. This not only offered a cost saving to the client, but also reduced waste along with reliance on virgin aggregates.”
Neil Huntington, Eurovia Regional Director, added: “We have a long history of successfully working in Hertfordshire and I am delighted we have been able to deliver these footpath improvements on time and to such a high quality.”
Eurovia Contracting was the only contractor to successfully secure a position on all three Lots of the £90m Hertfordshire Highways Structural Maintenance and Surface Treatments Framework contracts in 2012. Lot 1 covers carriageway and footway surface treatments; Lot 2 covers carriageway resurfacing; and Lot 3 covers general civil engineering. This footpath improvement contract, awarded in 2013, formed part of Lot 3 and is worth approximately £1 million.
